  It was the guy from Lourdes who came up with the figure of 66 authenticated cured cases. Dawkins came up with one of my favourite arguments that we have yet to see anyone with for example an amputated leg come back from a faith healer with the limb grown back!

  I also liked the way he told the Baptist minister that he had no idea about evolutionary science.

  I found most of the programme to be fairly simplistic though. Next week he's going to discuss how 'vidictive' the god of the bible really is.

  But how do you KNOW that? What is it that makes it so "clear" to you that some cultures escaped being under Nebuchadnezzar's jurisdiction?

  I asked you before why did Nebuchadnezzar build the Median Wall. The answer was to keep the Medes out. The Babylonian records talk of conflicts with the Assyrians, Egyptians, Medes etc etc. Babylon only defeated Assyria with the help of the Medes. It is beyond obvious that Babylon was just one of several Near Eastern powers that were vying for power.

  Trajan's victories over the Parthians led to Mesopotamia being part of the Roman Empire but the area between Mesopotamia and Parthia was never demilitarised and Parthia (modern day Iran) never fully conquered.

  Now Schizm how about some secular evidence that contradicts this or will we just get the usual insults and name calling?

  Firstly, most bible scholars interpret this fourth beast as Greece not Rome. Only end-time nutcase religions seem to interpret it as you do.

  Secondly, what evidence do you have that bible 'world powers', including relatively small powers such as Babylon, ruled the entire inhabited earth? What we need is some secular evidence to back up your claims.

  Surely the common factor is that all these powers had dealings with Israel from time to time.

  burton cromervice president of bbc direct, which is releasing the first season of the british sf series doctor who on dvdtold sci fi wire that the bbc made the unusual decision to release the dvd before the show had found a broadcast outlet in the united states.

  but he added that the show will find its way onto american tv one way or another.

  My fave white at the moment is New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc.

  The best red I've had recently was an Ozzie Jack Mann Shiraz. It was absolutely wonderful.

  Are JW's closer to their creator than other religions?

  i was thinking the other day, why so many xjw's become atheist or agnostic.. is it because the wt admonishes us to "draw close to jehovah" so much, that when a witness finally does see the "light" regarding the watchtower, they feel that god has failed them?

  think of the publication, "draw close to jehovah" - the book is practically a step by step guide to being god's friend.

  because witnesses believe that jehovah and the watchtower are entwined, almost like a duality, then the closeness they feel with jehovah god must be a catalyst for deep discord in the event that the truth is discovered about watchtower teachings and dogma.

  I became agnostic because I finally saw the "light" regarding the bible. I realised it was historically and scientifically flawed and had too many inconsistencies in it to be inspired.
